On Slowing Down

An Invitation to Move More Intentionally

Three years ago, moving slowly or easing into things wasn’t part of my life. I measured my worth by how much I could do and how quickly I could do it. Productivity brought praise, and that praise felt motivating. At the time, I didn’t question it.

What I didn’t see was how unsustainable that pace was. Over time, it took a toll on my health, my energy, and my relationships. Making changes required rethinking my lifestyle, work, and priorities. While I’ve found more balance since then, I still notice the pull to push harder—and the guilt that can show up when I choose to pause.

Slowing down, for me, isn’t about following a trend. It’s about paying attention to what actually feels aligned. I’ve realized my natural pace has always been slower than the one I felt pressured to keep. When I honor that, I feel more present, grounded, and satisfied. Focusing on one thing at a time allows me to move with care, rather than rushing through many things and feeling disconnected from the outcome.

I’ll leave you with a few reflections to sit with:

  • Where might more intentionality support you in your day-to-day tasks?

  • Are there areas of your life that could benefit from more time and focus?

  • What might become possible if you allowed yourself to move at your own pace?
