Why Our Work Matters

In Greater Boston, where you live can shape how long—and how well—you live. Life expectancy can vary by more than 20 years between neighborhoods, reflecting deep inequities in access to healthcare, housing, green spaces, and culturally responsive wellness opportunities.

Wellness isn’t just about medical care. It’s about movement, connection, culture, and belonging.

Communities of color and immigrant populations continue to face higher rates of preventable chronic illness and increased barriers to mental health support, especially when language and cultural needs are not centered.*

Our Role

Thrive in Motion creates trilingual, low-barrier wellness spaces where dance, mindfulness, and community come together—supporting the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of individuals and communities across Greater Boston.

Because thriving shouldn’t depend on your zip code.

What Makes Thrive In Motion Different?

Holistic, Not Clinical

We integrate movement and mental wellbeing without diagnoses, assessments, or clinical language.

Accessibility First

Programs are trilingual, culturally responsive, and designed to reduce financial and logistical barriers.

Community Centered

Our focus is on shared experience, connection, and collective wellbeing—not individual performance.

Evidence Informed

Evidence-informed psychoeducation grounded in research on stress and brain–body responses, supporting mental health and holistic wellbeing through movement-based practices.

“I would say the program is led by a welcoming instructor who creates a space where everyone can be active in the way that works for them. It also builds a community that supports one another to both have fun and also to reflect on our own wellness journeys."

- Brittany, 38

"Observing the Dancing Into Wellness workshops was a joy! Cecilia created a space where our youth felt free to move, express themselves, and connect with one another. The energy was always positive, and it was beautiful to see how dance became a tool for self-care, confidence, and community-building. We would definitely love to have Cecilia return to host more workshops for our cohort next year!"

- Angelica Rodriguez-Program Director

What Participants and Partners Are Saying

"Cecilia has worked with us each summer for the past four years and has always been professional and enthusiastic about her program. She is able to command the attention of large groups of young children with ease. The campers are always excited to see her return each year to lead them in high energy, Zumba and dance workshops. We are looking forward to seeing Cecilia again this summer!"

- Ryan McCarthy- BB&N Summer Camp

“Many of the people I met in the class have become friends and certainly I have become a follower of Cecilia to her other classes. I started taking other dance classes from her and have really felt like it is a good way for me to keep my fitness goals”.
